The Women’s International Group (WIG) of Cambodia comprises over a hundred women of different nationalities representing business, NGO’s, diplomatic missions and the private and public sectors. It is arguably the most comprehensive representation of the international community in Cambodia.Begun in the early 90’s as a means of networking among women, the members quickly recognized that the organization had the opportunity and the capacity to help poor Cambodian communities. The WIG Community Fund (WCF) was formed within WIG to provide highly needed financial support for a range of small scale initiatives implemented by Cambodian formal and informal non-profit organizations. Selection is highly competitive and in 2012, WIG donated to 14 projects
To continue the work of the WCF in 2013 and beyond, WIG invites support from within the International and domestic communities of Cambodia. The WIG Christmas Fair held each year is one of the most popular events in Phnom Penh’s social calendar; and is the WIG’s most important fund raiser. The Christmas Fair is also a major retail opportunity involving a range of vendors, both commercial and non-profit and provides a significant level of exposure for these businesses and for sponsors with over 1,500 people attending the event.
